Introduction to Using the Camera within the 3D Pipeline

What is Camera Work?

In many ways, the camera is "your audience's view into the scene" and it should be treated as a character of its own.

The camera is a main component that determines what is visible, what is visible, what is hidden until the last second.

By establishing good camera work early, we can cut off significant amounts of work from our projects. For example, why add details to walls that will always be behind the camera, and thus never visible? In fact, in some cases, it makes sense to skip entire sections of rooms, if it will never be visible by the camera, and thus never have an impact.

Camera work is strongly tied to Storyboarding, as shot decisions from the storyboard process will often have significant impact on how and where the cameras are ultimately placed.
