Lighting Basics

Lighting is very important, even to render anything.
Without any lights, the final render will be display entirely black.

It's actually comparable to a real-life stage for a play or theater.
Without any lights, it's just a dark room and the audience can't see anything. However, with the correct lighting, magic can happen.


But lighting can be much more than that too. Aside from simply "allowing a scene to be visible", lighting can play a massively important role in nearly every medium, from film and movies, to games, and more.

Warm lights can create a sense of warmth, energy, or hope.
Cold lights can create a sense of sadness, coldness, or isolation.
In general, lighting can be a primary method to provide mood to a given scene.
